Intimate Distance, 9 paintings,

18 x 24 cm, oil on canvas, 2013

These paintings explore woman’s role as surveyor and surveyed in the confrontation of a gaze from both inside and outside, constantly part of placement and identity. The images use fragmentation to control the experience of looking, emphasizing most what cannot be seen while maintaining a desired distance. By remaining on the line that separates naked and nude, sensuality and sexuality, these works look to adjust the personal parameters over which women often have little control.
